The Name Tag Guy

I was mustering up my usual weekly email the Graves ABF, as I do every single wednesday morning at 9am. Our friends Kristine and Vance Smith have been with our group for a good while now...and doing so without a nametag. This may seem like no big deal, but in my world (billy self world), it's a big DEAL!

For about 3 years I have been the name tag enforcer at Turner ABF, Reid/Smith ABF, and now it's called the Graves ABF. It's all been the same class, just changing of the guard in our leadership from year to year.

Kristine and Vance gave me a hard time this past week because they still do not have a name tag to wear in class. Just embarrassing...on my part. So, in short, when I was preparing my weekly email to the group, I thought it would be fun to plug a few photos of nametags in the email. I made short visit to Google Images and came across this guy, Scott.

I thought the photo was funny enough and worth a post into my email at the very least. Upon further investigation, I noticed a website under the photo. Hellomynameisscott.com

After watching his videos and seeing what he has to offer, I think it would be great to get this guy to Texas for a local showing. What I love about the messages that I've already heard is that he promotes commitment very high on his priorities. He is committed to wearing a nametag no matter where he goes... even if it is to a wedding. I'm inspired by his ability to reach out to those in our daily lives that would not otherwise give him the time of day. That is what we are supposed to be doing as followers of Christ....reaching out to those we would not normally reach out to in our day to day grind.

I think that Scott has a powerful message about commitment and we can apply it to our Faith on our own accord. I have not listened to any more than about 5 minutes of this guy, but I can tell his message is strong and I want to hear more.

Next message, when do you know you've made it in your sport? Well, I just found out this morning that it is when you have a cartoon hero trading card made of you in your sport. As is the case with my good buddy Chase, who has a younger brother that plays for Purdue Football.

Kyle Ingraham is a very tall drink of water. I met him once at a party/gathering at Chase's house earlier this year. A very humble and nice fellow that was fun to talk to over a beer or two. Kyle had some shoulder issues this season, so he couldn't play this year, but wait until next year...it will be insane. Here are his two, yes count 'em, two trading cards.

Props to whomever made these trading cards... you made a fan of 89 out of me. Also, please contact me (billy@prosoap.com) as soon as possible to set up a session for my trading card. Yes, I want one...

Kyle, good luck in the rehab, we want someone to watch on T.V. to cheer for next season. Oh, and the stretched image of him reaching for a ball is because he is like 10 feet tall... a rarity for a wide receiver.

Tomorrow is the Annual Turkey Trot at the Dallas City Hall to raise money for the Dallas YMCA. A worthy cause, no doubt, and most of the Self family will be there to run it. I'm doing the 8 mile along with my sister, Chandler Rainey.

To my wife, Katie Self, thank you so much for sacrificing the Trot to make an awesome addition to the Self T-day dinner that will occur shortly after the Trot in Dallas. Katie, on a scale of 1 to awesome, you are super great! I love you.

Also of note, my newest website... The Vlog: www.handcleaner.tv
